Medicines prices

Due to different pharmaceutical pricing and reimbursement systems in European countries, including EU Member States (see above), medicines prices vary considerably among European countries.

The WHO Collaborating Centre for Pharmaceutical Pricing and Reimbursement Policies has independent, reliable and up-to-date medicines price information at ex-factory, wholesale (pharmacy purchasing price) and pharmacy retail price level for 30 European countries via the Pharmaceutical Price Information (PPI) service.

Besides providing actual prices, we have gained expertise in performing price surveys, analyses and comparisons and in-depth knowledge about interpreting medicines prices, including prices in the hospital sector thanks to our work over the last decade (see above). We are pleased to offer our know-how by undertaking studies as well as sharing it in consultancy and trainings; please consult the section Services.
